The Story Behind the Scent

How smells help you find balance

People often ask me about my approach to finding balance. The short answer is that you have to make time for it. When you’re intentional about what you prioritize in your life or stop long enough to remain present, you avoid feeling like you're in time bondage.

It’s like the saying goes;

“Stop and smell the roses.”

I was surprised to learn that the original translation comes from professional golfer Walter Hagen’s book The Walter Hagen Story. In it, he says, “You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.”

He says all of that to say, relax and experience the moment you’re in. Stop rushing to the next thing.
